Joyagoo customs & import tax

Customs is set by your country, not by Joyagoo — so it's the one cost the agent can't quote for you. Here's how it generally works and how to avoid nasty surprises on delivery.

Who charges customs, and on what

When your parcel enters your country, the local customs authority may apply import duty and/or sales tax/VAT based on the declared value, the goods type, and your country's thresholds. The courier often collects it on delivery, sometimes with a handling fee. Joyagoo doesn't set or keep this money.

Why declared value matters

The declared value on the parcel affects both duty and insurance. Under-declaring to dodge tax is risky — it can void insurance and cause seizures or penalties. Declare honestly and budget a buffer for possible import charges.

What US, UK and EU buyers should expect

Rules differ a lot by region and change often: the EU and UK apply VAT on most imports; US de minimis thresholds and state taxes differ again. We won't quote specific thresholds because they move — check your own country's current import rules before a big order, and treat any figure from a forum as out of date.

FAQ

Not always — it depends on your country's thresholds, the declared value and the goods. Some small parcels clear with nothing; larger or higher-value ones may attract duty and tax. Budget for it just in case.

Don't rely on it. Under-declaring can void insurance and cause seizures or fines. Declare honestly and plan for possible charges.

Usually the courier at or before delivery, sometimes with a small handling fee. It goes to your government, not the agent.
